The Pink Door
Philosophy

I believe in the beauty of imperfection - loose slipcovers, vintage china, handspun linens, and pieces collected over time. Nothing is too precious. The more lived-in, the better.

Decorating isn’t about having more. It’s about celebrating everyday life. Light the candle. Use the good dishes. Fill your home with what brings you joy.

The heart behind
The Pink Door on Main

Meet Lauren

I’m Lauren Ross, a design and cozy home enthusiast, living in the quaint town of Burton, halfway between Austin and Houston along Highway 290 and just minutes from Round Top. After 20 years of decorating client’s homes, I’ve decided to fulfill a life long dream of creating a store where I can share my love of thoughtfully curated home accessories and furnishings.

I went through many names for the store and the one that kept coming back was The Pink Door on Main. The townspeople of Burton all know me as the new neighbor who moved into town from Austin and painted her front door pink. So The Pink Door on Main it is! All the items are hand selected by me with an eye toward comfort and beauty.

The Backstory:

601 N. Main

In late 2024, my husband, Ned, and I inquired about the availability of an historic building for sale in the quaint town of Burton where we reside. The building needed some TLC, a clear vision of what it could be, and owners willing to devote resources to breathe new life into it. Where most people would see a building in disrepair, we saw an opportunity to share my design ideas with the community and fulfill a lifetime dream.

The 1929 building was originally a car dealership, service garage and gas station. Over the decades it morphed into a general store, flower shop, thrift store and food pantry. We definitely wanted to honor its legacy by preserving as much as possible of the exterior, including the old tin siding and porte cochere. The interior had been modified several times, and the new renovations included restoring the 12' ceilings,  adding back windows that had been boarded up, and eliminating some walls and split levels on the interiors. My husband and I have restored five homes dating back to 1905, so this project felt very familiar!

A Heritage of Style

My grandmother planted the first family seeds in retail antiques and style with her own antique store in Beverly Hills, and not long after, my mother took a strong interest in similar antiquities. I enjoyed hearing the history behind many of the beautiful pieces acquired over decades of shopping flea markets and from travels around the world. That translated to many years of my own antique shopping trips across the country. I love the thrill of the hunt and have been filling design client’s homes with treasures over the last 20 years.

And now it's my turn to share my love of design and well loved antiques with all of you!

The seeds my grandmother planted, years of antiquing, and never giving up on my dreams of owning a home decor store have uniquely positioned me for this moment in time, and I’m ever so grateful.

I hope you will plan a visit!
